Women's History Month Breakfast @ Leidos

I attended Women's History Month Breakfast hosted by Fairfax County Commission for Women. The commemoration began in 1978 as "Women's History day" in California. It has been a long journey for promoting women's rights including the right to bodily integrity and autonomy, to be free from sexual violence, to vote, to hold public office, to enter into legal contracts, to have equal rights in family law, to work, to fair wages or equal pay, to have reproductive rights, to own property, and to education.

“Gloria: A Life”

I ushered at Theater J this afternoon for “Gloria: A Life” about Gloria Steinem the feminist icon’s lifetime of accomplishments and influence. There was an interesting talk-back section after the play. A good play I recommend. BTW, cherries are blossoming all over DC.

15-m AT

I hiked with several friends on the Appalachian Trail between Manassas Gap and Whiskey Hollow out and back for 15 miles with 3000 feet elevation gain on a windy day (10-20 mph). This section doesn’t have views so I did it for the exercise. I then ran 5 miles in my neighborhood to meet my 20 hike/run mile weekend goal.

‘Stop Kiss’ at Reston Community Center

I ushered tonight for a play ‘Stop Kiss’ at Reston Community Center, a story about two women’s love. The play paced slower than what I used to, and I have to get up 6 am for the next hike, so I skipped the second act. You can read the review here: https://dctheaterarts.org/.../two-womens-love-not.../
I enjoyed Reston Community Orchestra rehearsal tonight before the play.

International Women's day

I attended two online and one in person events to celebrate International Women's day. The in person event was hosted by a gov contractor company in a historical plantation site that reminds me of a winery in Porto Portugal.
