Cedar Run - Hawksbill Summit - White Oak Canyon

 

I joined a friend’s hike in the Shenandoah National Park for 11.3 miles with 3250 feet elevation gain in early summer like weather. We hiked up Cedar Run trail to the highest point in SNP, Hawksbill Summit, then down to the White Oak Canyon trail.

Some of us stopped by the winery after hike. It was a surprise to learn the new policy of this group’s favorite winery which is driving away members.

I ran 3.3 miles after the hike, plus 8 miles ran during the week, I logged in 22.6 hike/run miles this week.

The Immigrant by Synetic Theater

 I ushered a no-dialog play The Immigrant by Synetic Theater Sunday afternoon. The story was based on the classic 1918 silent comedy starring and produced by Charlie Chaplin, about a newly arrived immigrant navigating NYC for his American journey at the turn of the 20th century.

Dickey Ridge hike

 

I hiked Dickey Ridge with a friend today for 12 Miles with 2200 feet elevation gain. It was pretty windy yet a lot of flowers blooming. I noticed that wild daffodils open their petals forvthevdun and higher temperature, then close as temperature cooled down even diring the day.

I then ran 4.7 miles after the hike, plus two runs of 6.6 miles during the week, I logged in total 23.3 hike/run miles this week.

First Stage Theater @ Tysons: HANG

 

I ushered at First Stage Theater @ Tysons this afternoon for HANG.

18-m mt marshal in fog

 

I hiked on mt marshal trails several times this winter because they are gradual and easy for winter. This Saturday I went hiking with 5 friends for 18 miles with 3500 feet elevation gain in foggy weather.

Plus two runs of 6.6 miles during the week, I logged in 24.6 hike/run miles this week. 

 

I tried another bakery surprise bag with Whole Foods Reston via TooGoodToGo, but quite disappointed this time,mainly high calorie donuts and muffins.

DC document visit

 I went in DC to get some documentation certified by the Taiwanese embassy. I dropped in the Science Division and the agriculture division to make new friends, then crashed a farewell party at the Economic Division. Quite a productive day!

16-m Maryland Height and Loundon Height hike

 

I got a reminder email about Saturday HOA meeting, so I switched from a meetup hike to a closer friend’s hike at the last minute. We finished both Maryland Height and Loundon Height for 16 miles with 3200 feet elevation gain in 5.5 hours (record fast time due to the high winds, excluding lunch break time inside the train station).

Nothing to complain other than the winds. We had a hot chocolate and snacks break after the hike, right on the train platform. It was noisy when the freight train coming via, yet quite a unique experience.

Plus two runs during the week, I had total 23 run/hike miles this week.

Mount Marshal trail with blowdowns

 

I hiked with four friends for 13.5 miles with 2,100 feet Elevation gain on the AT in the Shenandoah National park. AT is well maintained by the volunteer trail keepers. After passing the Grayel Springs Hut, we picked up the Bluff Trail which blowdowns were cleared as much as possible by other volunteers, I assume. So when the National Park Service is being trimmed down, more volunteers chip in?

We hiked up the south Mount Marshal trail to Skyline drive and then the Parking area. Very nice to hike in a spring like day in 50s.

The temperature dropped down to 20s Saturday due to a cold front. I ran 9.5 miles during last week, so I logged in 23 hike/run miles this week.
