Christian Memorial Day BBQ

I attended a Christian Memorial Day BBQ as a guest, the weather was perfect, the food was ok, yet I felt like visiting a nursing home. Glad that I ran 3 miles and mowed my yards before the BBQ, so I do not feel as bad eating all the food. — checked in to Vienna, Virginia.

2017 Wolf Trap's Summer Blast Off! "The President's Own" concert

I enjoyed Wolf Trap's Summer Blast Off! "The President's Own" concert that kicked off the summer season with a free performance by the U.S. Marine Band followed by fireworks. The music included from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Overture from Beauty and the Beast, etc. I was right behind the net but too close to the smoke to take good firework photos. I usually came late and left late to avoid the traffic around the parking areas. — checked in to Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts.

16.4 mile Pocosin Hollow and Slaughter Trails in Central SNP

We were very lucky to enjoy a relatively cool and dry 16.4 mile 3400 feet elevation hike via Pocosin Hollow and Slaughter Trails in Central SNP, until the last 2 miles heavy rain. There were four stream crossings required water shoes, an exciting rock scrambling, and lots of azaleas. We also stopped by a church ruin made from long lasting chestnut wood (> 100 yrs). I ran 10 m on Friday to slow down myself for this 2 mph hike, yet it turned out to be 3 mph to make up for the time spent on the deep stream crossings. — checked in to Elkton, Virginia.

Kaleidoscope Presented by Creative Cauldron

I watched a touching musical: Kaleidoscope Presented by Creative Cauldron tonight. A legendary Broadway performer comeback one-woman show, while battling against signs of Alzheimer’s disease with the help with her two daughters and a granddaughter. It was about family and love. — checked in to Creative Cauldron.

2017 DC dragon boat festival

I attended 2017 DC dragon boat festival to race for the Taiwanese de facto embassy for the 8th time, but 1st time I saw the team Out of Sight Dragon by blind people and felt inspired. We won silver medal for 250m mix. Enjoyed boating, cultural performance and exhibits in a nice and 70f cool day. I felt guilty skipping a 16m hike today, so I walked 4 m between Rosslyn and the boat house, did some yard work, and then ran 6 m at 9:56 per m. — checked in to Georgetown Waterfront Park.

LSU Science Cafe: Exploring Ancient Earth through the Aquatic World

I attended a Special LSU Science Cafe: Exploring Ancient Earth through the Aquatic World in the Grill. Dr. Prosanta Chakrabarty, a TED talk speaker, travels around the world to collect fish specimens in deep sea and caves that reveal clues about the history of the Earth. After the talk, I stopped by the 3 Stars Brewing Co. On my way to Court House Metro and tasted 3 kinds of beers. — checked in to Rhodeside Grill.
