play “Royale” at First Stage

I ushered for a play “Royale” at First Stage tonight. The main character, Jay Jackson is based on the great fighter and first black world heavyweight champion, Jack Johnson. The play brilliantly designed sound/base and acts to deliver the bloody boxing match experience from both boxers’ perspectives.

I attended a senior housing community open house which was staged with food/drinks from seven continents.

wettest winter hike + Chinese New Year party

I experienced the wettest winter hike with 30 hikers in 40+f along Overall Run for 9 Mile with 2050 feet elevation gain. It took a lot of time and teamwork to get via three main stream crossings, although one hiker got soaked and turned back with her family at the 2nd crossing.
After the hike, some of the hikers enjoyed a Chinese New Year party hosted by a hiker family nearby the tail, with food, drinks, laughters, and red envelopes prepared by me. Special thanks to Xiaobin and Rachel for their efforts in preparing a lot of delicious food.

winter Little Devils Stairs hike

I hiked with a group of 5-people for 11.7 miles with 3100 feet elevation gain today up Little Devils Stairs and along the Appalachian Trail in ~30f. Not much snow left and only a small section was windy. It was quite a pleasant winter hiking day. Thanks for the booties donated by Denise that spared my boots from getting wet over a stream.

DC congressional receptions including rum tasting

I went in DC for some congressional receptions, including one rum tasting event. I tasted one 60 yr old rum, and some with flavors of mango, milk, berry, etc. I also met up with my friend Darrell and photoed with some famous brands mascots.

Big group hike: Pine Hill - Board Hollow Loop

31 hikers hiked in drizzle (60+f) in the morning and clear in the afternoon along Pine Hill - Board Hollow Loop for 13 Miles with 3800 feet elevation gain. We had one minute silence before the hike for our beloved hiker Nancy who passed away three days ago from a stroke then a heart attack. Seize the moment while we may！

16.5-m hike without Nancy

9 hikers hiked for 16.5 miles with 3677 feet elevation gain along the Appalachian Trail from route 522 (Front Royal) to Jenkins Gap in overcast (50f) weather. Fortunately, we got rain only for the last 2 miles. Nevertheless, my heart has been heavy for hiker Nancy who skipped the hike due to a stroke and was in ICU.
