Robertson Mountain and Catlett Mountain Loop 17.8 mile 4500 feet

I felt that I stole one nice hiking day from the nasty weather forecast! I was ready to hike and get soaked in cold rain, yet we finished this 17.8 mile 4500 feet elevation gain hike along the Robertson Mountain and Catlett Mountain Loop with most dry or drizzle weather! No sighting of edible mushrooms today, although plenty of other mushrooms and wild flowers. Some of us went wine tasting after the hike. I pushed myself to run 2.2 miles back in Reston, to finish my 20 hike/run miles weekend goal.

17-mile 4000 feet elevation gain hike along Sams Ridge, Buck Hollow/Ridge and Hazel River Trails

I am happy to complete this 17-mile 4000 feet elevation gain hike along Sams Ridge, Buck Hollow/Ridge and Hazel River Trails in the Shenandoah National Park today. There were many flowers blooming and I found some eatable mushrooms. I saw some mushrooms looked like orange peels. Fortunately, we finished the major up hills before the heat kicked in. I did run 3 miles in 80s after the hike to finish my weekend 20 hike/run miles goal. I still feel thirsty after drinking so much juice, chocolate milk, and water.

Nicholson Hollow/Corbin Cabin Cut off/Indian Run Loop

Another wonderful weekend hike with a group taking Nicholson Hollow/Corbin Cabin Cut off/Indian Run Loop in the Shenandoah National Park for 15.5 miles with 3450 feet elevation gain. Many rhododendrons and other colorful flowers on the trails. I shopped grocery and ran 4.5 miles after the hike to meet my 20 hike/run weekend mile goal.

backyards birthday party

I joined a wonderful backyards birthday party tonight. I was wondering the lines of cars in a gas station on my way back to Reston (but not on my way out of Reston). Now I know why, the cyber-attack on oil pipeline lead to long queues for petrol and price increase. It was $2.89 a gallon @ 5:30 pm and jumped to $3.09 a gallon @ 9:30 pm. https://www.bbc.com/news/business-57081386.amp

17-mile Marshall and Bluff Trails

I enjoyed today’s 17 mile 3600 feet elevation gain hike in such sunny and cool weather Out and Back on Marshall and Bluff Trails. It was a fast hike so I had time to shop grocery, clean up a rescued mt bike, mow the yards, and then ran 3 miles to meet my weekend 20 hike/run mile goal after the hike.
