14-mile hile Manassas Gap - Whiskey Hollow Shelter

 

I joined a meetup hike on the Appalachian Trail between Manassas Gap and Whiskey Hollow Shelter for 14 miles with 2900 feet elevation gain in 60sf. We saw three hunters during the hike, had lunch at the shelter, and then saw a big black snake.

I did grocery shopping after the hike, attended HOA meeting, and then ran 6 miles to complete my 20 hike/run mile weekend goal. I was too tired to cook Saturday night the chicken of the woods wild mushrooms we found on the trail, so I cooked it on Sunday.

Cirque du Soleil: Echo at Tysons

 I was invited to a friend’s house for mid-autumn festival lunch and tasted many kinds of moon cakes. We then went to see Cirque du Soleil 太陽劇團Echo at Tysons.

15-mile hike to Little and Big Schloss

 

I took a meetup hike to Little and Big Schloss for 15 miles with 3150 feet elevation gain in 70sf sunny and pleasant weather. The hike started and ended late plus 3-hr round trip drive, so I got back home too dark to run.

It was annoying that two people, who crashed the hike, YouTubed some hikers without written consent. After l became aware of what was going on, I requested them to remove my image from the content since I valued my privacy. I came to hike and relax, and don’t want to be bothered in this manner.

I ran 5 miles Sunday morning before rain to complete my 20 hike/run mile weekend goal.

14-mile Bear Church Rock hike

 

I hiked Bear Church Rock for 14 miles with 3200 feet elevation gain with a meetup group today. The trail was over-grown in many sections so I got a few scratches on my legs. We went to a winery afterwards to celebrate the hike leader’s birthday, and asked the band in the winery to sing happy birthday song for her.

It was lucky that the rain was down-pouring when we headed back to town. However, it was too rainy to run on Saturday after the hike, so I ran 6 miles on Sunday morning to complete my 20 hike/run mile weekend goal.

DC for the PromptNight @ VOICE & AI conference

 

I went in DC for the PromptNight @ VOICE & AI conference to network with AI professionals and gather information of the rapidly growing field of AI. I also listened in a panel discussion on VC and AI. The conference covers prompt engineering, custom chatbots, LLMs, CX automation, etc.

I was on ChatGPT for a few months in place of search engines, and recently switched to Bard. But I am simply not interested in voice AI, out of privacy and security concerns. I do use an extension “YouTube Summary with ChatGPT” to extract text.

14-mile WOC-Hawksbill-Cedar Run hike

 

I took a meetup hike on Saturday in the Shenandoah National Park along WOC-Hawksbill-Cedar Run for 14 miles with 3500 feet elevation gain. I ran 6 miles On Sunday to complete my 20 weekend hike/run mile goal.

Glad to hike then run in the 70s before the heatwave in 90s since Sunday noon.
