Office Outting: wineries & restaurant

Office summer outing 1st winery with a ghost 1830 house and beautiful landscape. The vineyard is on the 250-acre family farm. The Hatch family has farmed in Loudoun for 64 years and three generations. — at Zephaniah Farm Vineyard.         Office outing lunch at well sought out restaurant. A “unique location” inside a circa‑1888 Romanesque Revival bank with soaring ceilings, Venetian chandeliers and “historic ambiance” galore in Downtown Leesburg. Everything was great. — at Lightfoot Restaurant.     Hit the 2nd winery of my office outing which also carries high end furniture. We tasted 5 kinds of wines paired with 5 kinds of snacks. The property was gorgeous. — at Stone Tower Winery.   Walking 2 miles in between two Wineries to get back to my car while my office party van heading directly back to Alexandria — at Loudoun Country Day School.

biked 90 miles at 12.4 mph

After following a friend's advice, I biked 90 miles at 12.4 mph along W&OD with duplication 25-34 mile posts, without as much knee and thigh muscle pain as before!!!! The Important biking tips 1. Quicker and lighter paddling 2. Lean forward to engage more hip muscles so all muscles tired evenly, not just thighs hurt and knees crying — checked in to Purcellville, Virginia.

Hiking photo sharing party in Vienna

Visited hiker's house to view his great hiking trip photos for CO, UT, and Canadian Rockies. I did not expect dinner started at 11 pm and already stuffed my stomach with appetizers. I tasted one spoon per each of the three main courses than rushed home to rest for next day long training bike ride. I hiked in UT, and toured the Canadian Rockies, but I need to hike in CO. Canadian Rockies reminded me my hikes in the Glacier National Park. Maybe I will hike there one day. — checked in to Vienna, Virginia.

Tech Lady Hackathons

Attended Tech Lady Hackathons 10 am till 5:30 pm to learn the basics of html, css, ruby/rail, and Python coding, as well as mingle with female programmers. Not sure yet how I am going to use the knowledge , but I think coding will become basic skills like speaking English — checked in to Impact Hub DC.

3-hr webpage design class on Wordpress

Took a 3-hr webpage design class focusing on Wordpress, and determined that I should use Square Space or outsource if I want my own fancy website with e commerce capabilities. It takes a lot of time and efforts to use Wordpress themes and plugins to build a trendy website. — checked in to Tysons Corner, Vienna, Virginia.

Attended a shoe design contest orientation class

Attended a shoe design contest orientation class then had dinner with a female friend right after she returned from 11-month worldwide walk about trip. I dared her to survey DC dating market with two guys next table and we made two new friends who are also well traveled. BTW, this was my 1st visited Pentagon mall and there was an outdoor concert — checked in to Fashion Centre at Pentagon City.

Attended a lecture: Walking El Camino at REI

Attended a lecture: Walking El Camino with Don Shaw who processed his grief of losing his wife like the main character of the movie The Way. Don did 4 sections, and shared his experiences, such as the Best time to go is fall, budget 25 euro a day, Walk in alberge without reservation, carrying no more than 300 euros, making friends on the trail, etc. I travelled in Spain for 16 days in 2013 and would love to go back — checked in to REI Tysons.

26.2 mile with 7098 ft hike in SNP

Hiked 26.2 mile with 7098 ft gain in quite pleasant weather: 70s in the morning and 80s in the afternoon. Had knee strained three times and foot cramped once, yet turned out ok and saw the photo of a black bear on a tree — checked in to Sams Ridge, Stafford, Virginia.             Dinner with two hikers after long hike — checked in to Danji.
