three receptions in DC

I felt almost recovered from something like stomach flu, and headed into DC for two congressional receptions and one corporation rooftop reception. The weather was gorgeous.

a slow hike: Rose River and saw Dark Hollow Waterfalls

I took a hike along the beautiful Rose River and saw Dark Hollow Waterfalls, but bailed out from hiking up to Hawksbill because I could only take the hike speed of 2 miles per hour for 7.5 miles (1700 ft elevation gain) with the meetup group. It was foggy on some sections of the skyline drive, but cleaned up the rest of the hike and still very green with a lot of flowers in the Shenandoah National Park, and there was a family event at the Harry Byrd Visiter Center. After the hike, I ran 6 miles in Reston to make up the unfinished hike of 13 miles before the heavy rain.

Play “members of the wedding”

I was driving around Tyson’s corner to attend a real estate title class, drop off a gift to a friend, shop at REI and a Chinese supermarket, and then usher for the premiere of the play “members of the wedding” at the First Stage. This play led me to ponder on the nature of loneliness and desire to venture.

After feeling pain inside both knee caps for about 10 days, I researched online and took some self help measurements, such as adjusting laptop and chair heights and enlarging laptop font size, to avoid extending knees over heels when sitting straight. The DIY treatment appears to be working.
Nevertheless, I invited a friend to attend a Regenerative Medicine & Stem Cell For Pain Dinner Seminar last night to learn more options.
Unfortunately, I kicked on a sidewalk uneven surface when running this morning, and fell on both knees and palms! I cleaned them with antiseptic and ice packed. I plan to hike this Saturday.

Staunton River-Bear Church Rock - Hoover Camp 17-miles Hike

I had a great hike along Staunton River-Bear Church Rock - Hoover Camp for 17 miles with 3982 ft elevation gain today with a meetup group. We were lucky to enjoy a crispy clear cool hiking day, regardless the rain in town and gloomy weather on the way to the trailhead. We stopped at Hoover Camp for lunch. I did hikes that cover Bear Church Rocks and Hoover Camp separately, but for the first time connecting the two via a ridge about 3.6 mile long. There were still a lot of spring flowers along the trails.

IPI's 2019 World Intellectual Property Day + two Congressional tech receptions

I went in DC for IPI's 2019 World Intellectual Property Day Celebration @ National Press Club, Medical Imaging Technology Showcase (mostly hospital and medical doctor research projects), and 25th Annual Coalition for National Science Funding (CNSF) Exhibition and Reception (mostly college grad students research programs) on the Capital Hill.

I signed up to volunteer as the house manager for Annie at the CenterStage in Reston by mistake, but tough it out tonight anyway and survived. All went ok except two complaints for patrons cellphone usage during the play that I had to channel to an experienced manager. The play was pretty good that I stayed awake from 8-10:30 pm after my long hike during the day.
