12.5 mile Sam’s Ridge, Hazel Mountain and Hazel River Trails

 

I had a meetup hike in the Shenandoah National Monument park along Sam’s Ridge, Hazel Mountain and Hazel River Trails for 12.5 miles with 3100 feet elevation gain in cool and sunny weather. Although the foliage ended, the leaves are the ground were still pretty. Best of all, the water levels were low so no problem with stream crossings. I skipped Cave Falls yet posted a photo took by another hike.

As usual, some of us went to the winery after hike. A kind hiker kindly shared pizza.

After grocery shopping, I ran 7.5 miles half of the time in the dark, to complete my 20 hike/run mile weekend goal.

Play: Avenue Q

 

I ran 7.5 miles in the morning to complete my 20 hike/run miles weekend goal. Then I ushered at the Reston Community center for the last show of Avenue Q, my 1st puppy comedy with adult content. LOL

Overall Run 12.5 mile hike

 

I took a friend’s hike in the Shenandoah National park to enjoy the foliage. We hiked 12.5 miles for 3250 feet elevation gain heading down the Overall Run Trail to see the falls and continue counter clockwise up the Beecher Trail to Heiskel Hollow ascending back towards Mathews Arm Campground.

We then stopped at a winery after the hike.

Halloween party in Reston

 One hiker mentioned the Halloween party in Reston tonight, so I signed up at the last minute, and went in after the hike without any costumes.

Buck Ridge, Hazel River, Marys Rock 16-miile hike

 

I took a tough meetup hike today in the colorful Shenandoah National park full of foliage traffic! I hiked Buck Ridge, Hazel River, Marys Rock for 16 miles with 4300 feet elevation gain. I skipped Cave Falls as usual to conserve energy, so I missed the group photo opportunity. But we saw some tents right next to the trail.

I hiked half way up to Mary’s Rock (0.3 mile short) as I was too tired to finish the last uphill. The other hikers told me it was jam packed on Mary’s Rock to find a spot for photos or even stand there!

I got home almost 5 pm, yet decided to run 4 miles to complete my 20 hike/run miles weekend goal.

Theater J: Where are all the Jewish Superheros?

 

After 10 miles run, I rushed via shower and laundry to get to Theater J in DC to usher in time for the play "Where are all the Jewish Superheros?" Unfortunately, only 1/4 of the seats were taken, the lowest attendance I have ever seen, yet making my job much easier. I am not sure if it had anything to do with the war in Caza.

It was a preview so I cannot share much about the plot, but I really like how the story were laid out. You need to see it yourselves.

I finished my weekend 20 miles goal with 8m run on Friday, 10m run on Sunday, and 2m jog between Farragut west metro stop and Theater J.
