Sailing out of Belle Haven Marina on a Sunny/Cool Wednesday

Belle Haven Marina, located just South of historic Old Town Alexandria, is a quaint, scenic marina owned by the National Park Service. I and a friend enjoyed a sunny 70F day sailing over the Potomac River via the marina surrounded by Dyke Marsh, is an oasis for boaters in the busy Washington, DC area.  The wind was trickily changeable, so the Marina required at least three people per boat. Although my friend planned to persuade the Marina to make him an exception based upon his experience, I hunted and found two other boaters to group and sail together. They drove 2.5 hrs from Harrisonburg, VA to sail so they were very happy to sail with us, instead of driving back another 2.5 hrs without sailing. We exchanged life experience and stories and had a blast. My new friend explained to me her post Lyme disease issues, and we are planning o organize a support group and/or meetup to increase public awareness.
