I attended a local LinkedIn event on DIY video to gain more exposure in
social media, especially LinkedIn. More and more people start their own
small businesses requiring online marketing and traffic which can be
enhanced via videos and LinkedIn supporting groups. LinkedIn has rules
on exposing posts to more people as the number of likes and re-posts
increase.

Southlake 10k race
I ran 10 miles (16 kms) this morning, and shared part of the path with
the Southlake 10k race. To train for 41-mile day hike along Appalachian
Trail in Maryland on 9/29/2018 (hike registration fee $45, and car
shuttle fee $16.5, see details http://mahg41.org/),
I have been hiking/running 35-40 miles each week since mid July. Let
me know if you are interested in joining me for the 41-mile day hike on
9/29/2018.
Wharf DC Boat ride and pool party
I joined two families on a private boat ride with 3-people crew riding
from from the Wharf DC and then a pool party at the top of a nearby
hotel. The lobster sliders, grill steak, sauteed vegetables, and shrimps
tasted delicious, plus wines and desserts, which totally disrupted my
diet plan for the 41-m hike on 9/29. There are shuttle buses between
the Wharf, National Mall, and L'Enfant Metro.

Brown Mountain hike
Today's sunny dry and 75f weather was perfect for 13 miles (21 km) 2900
ft (880 meters) elevation gain Brown Mountain hike in southern
Shenandoah National Park, except the trail was rocky and narrow, several
of the 21 hikers got bee stings, and 2 hrs one way drive was far. We
saw a lot of uneatable honey mushrooms, two bikers switching to hiking, a
lot of wild flowers and some blue berries.

To seize the fall like weather, I went in DC to attend two congressional
receptions and met up with my friend Darrell who is visiting Taiwan
again since this Saturday.

25.5 miles weekend workout
I was planning to hike 20 miles round trip from the difficult end of the Appalachian Trail Roller Coaster this Saturday, but one of my car tire leaking changed the plan. I ended up hiked/ran 13 miles on in the Bull Run regional park on Saturday, and then ran 12.5 miles in Reston on Sunday. I struggled with mud and mosquitos for one hour on the Bull Run/Occoquan Trail then gave up and changed to running shoes.

Bearfence Mountain
My meetup group joyfully store a wonderful day out of gloomy weather forecast to hike the Bearfence Mountain of 14.5 miles (23 kms) with 3400 feet (1000 meters) elevation gain. A few of us left phones/camera in the cars due to thunderstorm forecast, yet I brought mine. The weather was a little humid but not a single drop of rain. A lot of stream crossings required water shoes, but I just wore my new quick-dry light hiking boots as water shoes; however, I miscalculated at the last stream crossing (later learned one hiker broke ankle here) and slipped off one rock, and ripped open a 3-week old worn on my right knee. We saw a big and noisy rattle sake on the trail.
