Went
in DC at the last minute to catch a new play "Guards at the TAJ". In
1648 India, two Imperial Guards watched from their post as the sun rises
for the first time on the newly-completed Taj Mahal — an event that
shacked their respective worlds. When they were ordered to perform an
unthinkable task (chopping of hands of 20,000 artisans so TMJ can never
be duplicated), the aftermath forced them to question the concepts of
friendship, beauty, and duty. I was in Agra in 2013 to see Taj Mahal
without knowledge of the story. Now Taj Mahal will never look the same
in my eyes, whether the story was true or not. — checked in to Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company.
