17-mile Thornton Hollow/Piney Ridge Loop hike

I usually avoid hiking in the rain, but took this hike as 50f was warm enough to get wet and also to stay active before my long trip to New Zealand and Australia.

Had I remembered how high the river was last time I hiked Thornton Hollow/Piney Ridge Loop, I would have skipped this hike. There were six river crossings that I used booties given by our thoughtful hike leader Denise to walk via. My body stayed dry until the second half of the hike, and my boots got wet almost the end of this 17-mile 3150 ft elevation gain hike. Pretty tired and cold at the end of the day, yet quite a nice note to end my 2018 winter hiking season in DC. See you again in June, my friends in DC.
