Attended
the Ahmet Özhan Concert and the Mevlevi Sema Ceremony sponsored by the
Turkish Embassy. The classic Turkish music would be better if someone
can provide some background info or translation. I learned from a
Turkish lady that it was about religion and peace. As to the whirling
dance ceremony (a form of remembrance of God designated by UNESCO as a
Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity), I could
not see it in Ankara in 2013 due to rerouting after my rubbery accident.
I finally saw it today. The embassy gave each person a goody bag
including apricots (daily if you ate kabob in turkey for 3 weeks like
me), and dry hazelnuts. — checked in to GW Lisner Auditorium.
