Attended
a jazz concert by Maria Schneider Orchestra, and listened to the band
led by this American composer to play her 2004 album Concert in the
Garden won a Grammy for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album, and her 2007
composition "Cerulean Skies" won a Grammy for 'Best Instrumental
Composition," etc. as well as the world premier of her new work. She
blended jazz with modern concepts (e.g., "Data Lords") and experimental
sounds which were refreshing and delightful, yet mixed with some
portions sounded overly busy and load to my ears. I ran into a friend who ushered tonight. — checked in to The Library of Congress.
